PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Slavi Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jhon Flitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Slavi Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jhon Flitch!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Flitch.
Flitch throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stone's waist but Stone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Flitch off to one side.
Stone dives in and grabs Flitch's left leg, looking for a takedown. Flitch pushes down on Stone's head and hops out.
Flitch shoots for a double leg takedown but Stone sprawls well. He's pushed Flitch's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Slavi Stone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jhon Flitch.
Flitch takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Flitch shoots in and drives through. Stone sprawls well.
Stone throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Flitch on the side of the head.
Flitch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Flitch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Stone cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Stone ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Flitch falls off balance throwing a combination
and Stone counters with a stiff right hand.
Flitch looks winded!
Flitch has a takedown stuffed.
Flitch shoots in for a double leg but Stone sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Stone misses with a low kick.
Stone throws a combination. Flitch tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone scores with a nice strike.
Flitch tries to clinch

and Stone counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Stone.
Stone is looking to break free of the clinch but Flitch has double underhooks.

Flitch breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stone displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Flitch.
Flitch takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Flitch is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Flitch walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Flitch fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Stone lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Stone works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Nice cross by Stone.
Stone is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Stone throws a one two combo.

Flitch gets a takedown into half guard.
Stone wants to improve his position but Flitch is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stone has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Flitch is working away from the top position though.
Stone won't allow Flitch to pass to mount.

Flitch is trying to work for a kimura but Stone is defending well.
Stone knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Flitch on the ground.
Flitch wants to control but Stone is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Flitch perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Flitch trying to mount his opponent but Stone defends it.

Flitch stands up and beckons Stone to join him on the feet.
Flitch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stone as he jumps to the side.
Stone fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Flitch closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Stone looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Stone has Flitch pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Flitch manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Stone is trying to force a seperation but Flitch has the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stone working hard to break the clinch.
Stone wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stone tries to circle away but Flitch has him pinned against the cage.

Flitch pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fighters circling - Stone throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Stone misses with a looping right.

Stone tries to sprawl but Flitch drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stone is refusing to be controlled, as Flitch sits in half guard.
Flitch throwing shots but Stone is blocking nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Flitch seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Stone is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jhon Flitch!
