PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Machin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Machin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Masahiko Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Machin!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kimura tries to throw a body punch but Machin avoids it by throwing Kimura back against the cage.

Machin pulls Kimura into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Machin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Machin keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully.
Kimura stays in close to Machin's body and controls the position.
Machin keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully.

Machin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kimura is aware though and is defending well.
Kimura wants to pass the guard but Machin is keeping the position.
Kimura throwing strikes from guard but Machin blocks nicely.
Kimura passes Machin's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Machin keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Kimura trying to control the action but Machin is working from the bottom.
Machin wants to control but Kimura is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Machin wants to get back to full guard.
Machin is trying to maintain the position but Kimura is very close to passing his half guard.
Kimura is looking to take a break and control but Machin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Machin looks for a takedown but Kimura sprawls well.
Kimura tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Machin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Machin misses with a takedown attempt

and Kimura counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kimura wants to control from the top but Machin keeps moving.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kimura trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kimura is stalling in the full guard.

Machin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kimura defends well.

Kimura got a little sloppy there for a moment and Machin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kimura has managed to get both his arms back between Machin's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kimura controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kimura wants to control from the top but Machin keeps moving.
Machin keeping full guard, as Kimura tries to pass.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Masahiko Kimura.
Machin has a takedown stuffed.
Masahiko Kimura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Machin.
Machin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kimura's waist but Kimura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Machin off to one side.
Kimura misses with the combination.
Kimura defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Machin.
Machin wants to clinch but Kimura slips to the side

and Kimura moves into the clinch.
Machin's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Machin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kimura avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kimura takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Machin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kimura smiles and moves away.
Kimura lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kimura is trying hard to land a takedown here. Machin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Machin tries for a takedown but Kimura sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kimura tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Machin was well out of range. Poor timing from Kimura.
Machin moves out of range as Kimura strikes.
Machin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kimura.
Machin shoots for a double leg takedown but Kimura sprawls well. He's pushed Machin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kimura lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Machin circles away quickly and effectively.
Kimura throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kimura is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kimura misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Machin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Masahiko Kimura dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Kimura changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Machin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kimura tries to move to mount but Machin blocks the move with his legs.
Kimura is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Machin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Machin gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Kimura looking to control but Machin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Machin is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Kimura has taken his back.
Machin tries to roll but Kimura sticks to his back.
Kimura is looking to control Machin but Machin is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Machin just trying to survive but Kimura is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kimura has managed to slip his arm under Machin's chin. This could be all over... yep, Machin is tapping out! Submission win for Kimura.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Masahiko Kimura!
Masahiko Kimura looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Before I say......(Kimura is stopped by a barrage of booos and litter is thrown into the cage, the fans are showing their distain for this man. Kimura gives a "fuck you" sign to the fans and throws the microphone at Wilsons direction. Kimura leaves the cage shouting abuse at the fans)'.
