PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Pott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klaus Andersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pott comes to the cage accompanied by Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Klaus Andersen!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Pott lands.

Pott fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Andersen, pushing him back against the cage.
Andersen is trying to maintain a safe position but Pott gets an underhook and turns Andersen into the cage.
Pott lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Andersen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Pott scores with a shoulder strike.
Pott misses with a hook from the clinch.
Pott blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Pott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A jab from Pott misses.
Andersen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pott paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pott throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pott misses with a hook to the body

and Andersen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Andersen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Pott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pott wants to control the position but Andersen says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Andersen wants to work for an arm triangle but Pott is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Andersen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Pott wants to get back to full guard.
Andersen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Andersen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Andersen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Andersen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pott is just riding it out for now. Andersen eventually gives up the hold.

Andersen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Pott is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Andersen wants to free his trapped foot but Pott is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Andersen works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pott is trying to maintain the position but Andersen is very close to passing his half guard.

Andersen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Andersen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pott is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pott wants to control but Andersen postures up.
Pott is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Andersen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Pott rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Andersen's guard! Nice work there by Pott!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pott trying to control the position from guard on top but Andersen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Klaus Andersen dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Andersen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pott is fending him off so far but Andersen persists. Nope, Pott circles away and we're back to standing.
Andersen is looking to clinch but Pott is avoiding it.
Pott ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Andersen moves away.
Horrible takedown by Andersen or perhaps it was just good defense by Pott which made him look bad.
The fight stays on the outside here - Andersen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Andersen tries to move into range but Pott moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jack Pott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Andersen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pott fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Pott connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Nice defenses there by Andersen.

Andersen moves out of range of the strikes.
A lazy left from Pott finds it's target.
Andersen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Andersen somewhat.

Andersen throws a jab when Pott was well out of range.
Pott connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Andersen's hands.

Andersen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Pott gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Pott.
Pott misses with a punch to the body.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Pott digs a right hand into Andersen's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Andersen's gas tank.
Andersen is breathing heavily.

Pott breaks from the clinch.

and Pott counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Pott gets tackled into the cage by Andersen. Andersen maintains the clinch.
Pott lands an uppercut.
A short right from Pott.
Pott lands with a short shot to the head.


Andersen is rocked!
Pott is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Andersen misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pott.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Pott.
Andersen is still on wobbly legs! Can Pott finish him?
Pott dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Andersen seems to have recovered his senses.
Pott tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Andersen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pott pushes down on Andersen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Andersen regains full guard. Nicely done.
Andersen wants to sweep here but Pott controlling him for the moment.
Pott wants to control from the top but Andersen keeps moving.
Andersen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Pott tries to free his leg and advance position but Andersen is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Pott.

Pott punishes Andersen's body with a nice straight punch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Andersen is looking to control Pott's arms but Pott gets an underhook and turns him. Now Andersen has his back to the cage.
Pott with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Andersen decides to pull guard.
Pott pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Andersen is keeping the position for now.

Pott got a little sloppy there for a moment and Andersen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pott has managed to get both his arms back between Andersen's legs - danger averted.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


A looping hook to the body misses from Pott. Andersen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Andersen tries to clinch but Pott moves out of range.

Pott ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Pott throws a shot from downtown. Andersen moves away and avoids it.
Andersen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pott defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Andersen.
Pott connects with a body shot that sends Andersen's belly button to the back.
Nice takedown defense from Pott. No joy for Andersen on that attempt.
Pott works over Andersen's head and body with a nice combination.

Pott presses Andersen against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Andersen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Pott is looking to control Andersen's arms but Andersen gets an underhook and turns him. Now Pott has his back to the cage.
Andersen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Pott breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A combination from Andersen does no damage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Andersen is defended easily by Pott.
Pott connects with a body shot that sends Andersen's belly button to the back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pott lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Pott throws a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Andersen looks up at the clock. Bad move! Pott lands a right hand from hell, dropping Andersen. Pott pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Pott!
