Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fred Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylar Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gray has chosen Saving me as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sylar Gray!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gray misses with an uppercut. Boyle saw that one coming.
Gray misses the jab.
Gray throws a hook to the side of Boyle's head but Boyle sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boyle scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Gray just misses with a punch to the body.
Boyle moves out of range of the strikes.
A head kick misses from Gray.
Boyle throws a nice head kick!


It looks like Sylar Gray has been cut.
Gray scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Boyle decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Boyle wants to pass to mount but Gray is defending the position.

Boyle postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Gray to stand up.

Boyle avoids the body shot from Gray.

Boyle drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gray tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Boyle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gray, who protects the arm well.
Gray parries the strikes from Boyle easily there. Boyle is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gray to escape.

Boyle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gray keeps working.
Gray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boyle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gray is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Boyle has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Boyle wants to take Gray's back here but Gray is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Boyle there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Boyle throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Boyle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Boyle jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gray manages to avoid the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Boyle is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gray has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nice defenses there by Boyle.

Boyle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Gray is looking to reverse the position.
Boyle throws a strike aimed at the side of Gray's head but Gray avoids it well.
Boyle misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Boyle creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gray sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Boyle is looking to take a break and control but Gray is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gray dodges the ground and pound from Boyle.

Fred Boyle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Boyle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gray is looking to escape.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Boyle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gray throws out the jab.
Gray misses with a low kick.
Boyle connects with a right hand. Gray shakes it off.
Gray lands with an uppercut that bounces Boyle off the cage and back into range.
Gray misses with a wild body shot.

Boyle drives through with a takedown into guard.
Boyle trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Boyle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Boyle trying to control but Gray is working from the bottom.
Boyle lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Boyle postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gray is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Boyle, into his guard.
Boyle looking for a sweep. Not yet Boyle, not yet.
Gray looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Boyle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gray gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Boyle trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Sylar Gray has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gray loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gray wants to pass the guard but Boyle is keeping the position.

Boyle has his foot on Gray's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gray works his way back into a safe position though.

Gray is fighting to break Boyle's control of his arms but Boyle is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Gray is sitting in close to Boyle's body. Boyle has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Gray is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Gray is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Boyle.
