PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mad Max (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hanz Stokenhizer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stokenhizer is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Lucky Bullets "Cross the Line". Hanz Stokenhizer has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mad Max!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hanz Stokenhizer!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Max fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stokenhizer sprawls well initially but Max persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Well, if Max is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Stokenhizer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Max is working away from the top position though.

Max is working for a submission of some sort.
Max is looking to take a break and control but Stokenhizer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Max seems to be working for a kimura but Stokenhizer defends the submission attempt.
Max trying to control from Stokenhizer's half guard. Stokenhizer has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Stokenhizer keeping moving, preventing Max from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Max drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stokenhizer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stokenhizer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stokenhizer!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Max holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Max is looking to reverse the position.
Stokenhizer working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Max tries to buck Stokenhizer off but Stokenhizer is having none of it.
Stokenhizer is looking to take a break and control but Max is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Max closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stokenhizer to the mat! Stokenhizer manages to get full guard.
Max with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Max passes Stokenhizer's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Max lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Stokenhizer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Max is working away from the top position though.

Max is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Stokenhizer has managed to free his arm - good work.
Max frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mad Max dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stokenhizer tries to bum rush Max with a series of wild strikes but Max uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Max shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stokenhizer as he jumps to the side.
Max shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stokenhizer but Stokenhizer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Max throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Max changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stokenhizer tries to avoid it but Max manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stokenhizer to the ground. Stokenhizer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mad Max. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stokenhizer wants to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Max lands a jab.
Stokenhizer throws a lazy head kick
enabling Max to counter with a crisp jab.

Max feints and as Stokenhizer raises his hands in defense, Max changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.


Stokenhizer is rocked!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Max's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Stokenhizer is still in real trouble! Can Max finish him?
Max working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Stokenhizer's head.
Max passes into half guard.
Mad Max overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Max seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Stokenhizer is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Mad Max!
Our winner, Mad Max, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
