The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monzolo gets a takedown into half guard.
Monzolo trying to mount his opponent but Lott defends it.
Monzolo stops Lott from getting back to his feet.
Monzolo sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Lott has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Monzolo escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Monzolo!

Lott tries to escape but Monzolo is in control.
Monzolo gets to mount! Lott was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Monzolo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Monzolo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Monzolo trying to control but Lott is having none of it.
Lott tries to reverse the position but Monzolo maintains control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Monzolo with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Lott is bucking up trying to escape but Monzolo cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Monzolo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lott is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Monzolo lands a nice shot to the head.

Monzolo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lott can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Monzolo is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Monzolo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lott is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lott keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Lott sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Lott is trying to stand back up but Monzolo is controlling him
This has been an exciting period of action!
Monzolo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Monzolo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Lott defend it? Monzolo steps over the head and cranks it - Lott is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Monzolo!
