PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Sorensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rain Ask (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nicky Sorensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rain Ask!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sorensen slaps away a takedown attempt from Ask, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Sorensen or perhaps it was just good defense by Ask which made him look bad.
Ask tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sorensen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ask somewhat.

Ask feints and as Sorensen raises his hands in defense, Ask changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sorensen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sorensen is looking to stand back up but Ask counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Sorensen.
Ask is trying to control. Sorensen wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ask working the head and body with strikes.
Ask not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Sorensen is trying to control but can't.
Sorensen wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ask is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sorensen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ask.
Ask tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Ask throwing shots but Sorensen is blocking nicely.
Ask lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Ask throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ask has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ask tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sorensen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ask lands with a punch from half guard.

Ask working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ask landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Ask is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ask scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ask lands a nice short elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ask is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Sorensen to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Ask postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ask lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Ask keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sorensen's head.
Ask distracts Sorensen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Ask trying to control the position from guard on top but Sorensen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ask drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Ask as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Sorensen screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Ask! Nice submission victory there!
