Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sean McGovern!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGovern fails in his attempt to clinch.
McGovern shoots in for a takedown but Emelianenko shows good takedown defense.
McGovern tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Emelianenko paws at him with a jab and circles away.

McGovern rushes Emelianenko and presses him up against the cage.

Emelianenko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McGovern slaps away a takedown attempt from Emelianenko, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McGovern shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Emelianenko sprawls well. Emelianenko wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McGovern gets slowly back to his feet.
McGovern throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from McGovern.

Emelianenko moves in looking to clinch but McGovern pushes him off.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McGovern is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
McGovern parries the strikes from Emelianenko easily there. Emelianenko is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable McGovern to escape.

McGovern is working to avoid the ground and pound but Emelianenko connects with a decent elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGovern is trying to get back to half guard.
Emelianenko is putting a hurting on McGovern here, landing some big shots from side control.
Emelianenko wants to control but McGovern is keeping him busy.

McGovern is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGovern is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Emelianenko dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


McGovern wants to clinch.
McGovern takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
McGovern shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Emelianenko sprawls well. Emelianenko wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McGovern gets slowly back to his feet.

Emelianenko decides to stand back up. Emelianenko steps back and let's McGovern get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Emelianenko tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. McGovern manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McGovern tries to clinch but Emelianenko is having none of it.

Emelianenko has picked McGovern up - he's going for a ride! Emelianenko dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Emelianenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGovern keeps working.
McGovern tries to roll over but Emelianenko keeps him under control.
Emelianenko takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Emelianenko passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McGovern!

Emelianenko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

McGovern is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Emelianenko cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Oh McGovern is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Emelianenko connects with a bit shot that sees McGovern covering up! More strikes from Emelianenko and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Emelianenko is our winner by TKO!
