PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marti Pico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Choi Siwon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choi Siwon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Siwon throws a nice looking combination but Pico bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pico avoids the body shot from Siwon.
Pico tries for a takedown but Siwon circles away easily
and Siwon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Siwon counters with a series of strikes. Pico will be more careful next time no doubt.

Pico throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Siwon's waist but Siwon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pico off to one side.

The fighters circling - Siwon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Siwon tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Pico presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Siwon is looking to improve his position but Pico isn't that keen on the idea.

Pico swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Siwon is now in Pico's guard. A big mistake from Pico there, giving up the dominant position!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pico is on top in guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Choi Siwon wasn't active enough on the ground.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Siwon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pico on the side of the head.
Pico takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Choi Siwon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Pico doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Siwon counters with a right hand to the body.

Pico looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Siwon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pico pulls his head out easily.

Siwon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Siwon.

Siwon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pico gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pico stands and throws Siwon's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Siwon is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Pico is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Siwon has escaped the position, nice work there.
Siwon tries to improve position but can't.
Choi Siwon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pico tries to advance to mount but can't.
Siwon can't do much from the bottom here.
Siwon tries to bench press Pico off him but Pico keeps the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Choi Siwon.
Well Siwon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
