PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tomasz Adamek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Slyker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adamek comes into the arena with I Am The Sword - Motorhead blaring out of the sound system. Slyker has chosen It's Amazing by Kanye West as his entrance music. Tomasz Adamek had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tomasz Adamek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cain Slyker!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slyker tries to bum rush Adamek with a series of wild strikes but Adamek uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cain Slyker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slyker fails to land with a series of punches.
A combination from Slyker does no damage.
Adamek slips a jab and a cross from Slyker.
Slyker misses with a double jab.
Slyker throws a right and a left that Adamek avoids nicely.
Slyker falls off balance throwing a combination
and Slyker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Adamek tries to clinch up but Slyker circles away and keeps his distance.
Adamek moves in looking to clinch but Slyker pushes him off.
Slyker swats away the attempt to clinch by Adamek.
Slyker shoots in and drives through. Adamek sprawls well.
Slyker misses with a double jab.
Slyker throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Adamek counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Adamek doesn't manage to clinch there - Slyker circles away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Adamek tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Slyker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Adamek rushes Slyker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Adamek gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Adamek throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Adamek content to control rather than advance.
Adamek seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Slyker for as long as he can get away with.
Adamek wants to take a breather but Slyker is having none of it.
Adamek content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tomasz Adamek wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Slyker tries to keep at a distance but Adamek has taken the fight into the clinch.
Slyker wants to take the fight to the mat but Adamek manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Adamek's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Slyker misses with a few strikes there.
Slyker throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Slyker misses with a two punch combination.
Slyker throws a combination. Adamek tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Slyker throws a nice looking combination but Adamek bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Adamek gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Adamek stalling in the clinch.
Slyker looking for a takedown.
Tomasz Adamek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Slyker.

Adamek leaning his opponent against the cage.
Slyker jumps guard but Adamek stands there with Slyker around his waist. Slyker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Adamek escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Adamek swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Adamek tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slyker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Adamek wants to clinch.
Slyker stuffs the takedown attempt from Adamek. Adamek gets slowly back to his feet.
Adamek dives in and grabs Slyker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slyker pushes down on Adamek's head and hops out.
A left lands for Adamek.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Adamek lands with a good body shot.
Adamek throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Adamek slips a jab and a cross from Slyker.
Adamek shoots in and drives through. Slyker sprawls well.
Slyker looks to land a combination but Adamek avoids it well.

Adamek rushes Slyker and presses him up against the cage.

Adamek breaks from the clinch.
Slyker wants to clinch up but Adamek keeps it at a distance.
A right-left combo lands from Slyker.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A nice combination there by Adamek.
Adamek shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Slyker as he jumps to the side.
Adamek misses with a double jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slyker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Adamek avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tomasz Adamek dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Slyker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Slyker is looking to clinch but Adamek is avoiding it.
Adamek wants to clinch up but Slyker keeps it at a distance.
Slyker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Adamek shoots in looking for a takedown but Slyker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adamek's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Slyker throws a series of punches but Adamek moves out of range.

Adamek closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Slyker quickly recovers to half guard.
Slyker is trying to stand back up but Adamek is controlling him

Adamek is working for a submission of some sort.

Adamek wants to take a breather but Slyker is having none of it.
Adamek looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tomasz Adamek wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Slyker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Adamek takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Adamek drives through and clinches with Slyker against the cage.
Slyker changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Adamek fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Adamek misses with a head kick.
Adamek shoots in looking for a takedown but Slyker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adamek's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Adamek counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Adamek.
Slyker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Adamek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Adamek engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Adamek advances position into side control!
Adamek throws an elbow but Slyker slips to the side and avoids it well.

Adamek is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Slyker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Adamek remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Adamek tries to score with some ground and pound. Slyker controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Adamek shoots in and drives through. Slyker sprawls well.
Slyker misses with a double jab
and Adamek counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

It looks like Cain Slyker has been cut.

Adamek drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Adamek in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Adamek trying to control the position from guard on top but Slyker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Adamek is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Slyker is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

We're going to have a standup here because Tomasz Adamek wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Adamek scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Slyker misses with a low kick.
Slyker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Slyker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Slyker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Adamek tries for a takedown but Slyker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Adamek throws a hook but Slyker blocks it.
Slyker throws a left and a right that both miss
and Adamek counters with a stiff right hand.

Adamek rushes Slyker and presses him up against the cage.

Adamek breaks from the clinch.
Slyker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Adamek's waist but Adamek gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slyker off to one side.
Tomasz Adamek is winning the standup battle so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slyker rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Adamek moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Adamek lands with an overhand left.


Slyker is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Adamek misses with a series of wild punches.
Slyker is still on wobbly legs! Can Adamek finish him?
The fighters circling - Adamek throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Adamek throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Adamek shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Adamek slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Adamek lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Tomasz Adamek!
An out of breath Tomasz Adamek thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
