The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stewart enables Carter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stewart manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Carter passes Stewart's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Stewart trying to get back to full guard but Carter takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter cracks Stewart with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Stewart is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stewart tries to improve his position but Carter has taken his back! Carter has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Stewart tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Carter pushes Stewart away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
