PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sufjan Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Trenton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sufjan Stevens has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sufjan Stevens seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stevens drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Trenton working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Stevens.
Trenton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stevens!
Stevens is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Stevens is controlling an arm, preventing Trenton from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Stevens defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Trenton.
Stevens bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Trenton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stevens is one step ahead there.

Trenton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Stevens slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stevens postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Stevens creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Stevens is putting a hurting on Trenton here, landing some big shots from side control.
Trenton throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Trenton wants to stand and escape but Stevens is having none of it.

Stevens forces his way into half guard.
Trenton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stevens is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stevens lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Stevens seems to be working for a kimura but Trenton defends the submission attempt.
Stevens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Still in half guard, Stevens seems content to control.

Trenton wants to improve his position but Stevens is controlling well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Stevens is trying to control the action in half guard but Trenton is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Stevens uses his free foot to push down on Trenton's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Trenton.
Stevens has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Trenton's face.

Trenton can't escape the position.

Stevens fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Trenton sprawls well initially but Stevens persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Stevens thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trenton's head.
Trenton wants to control but Stevens is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Stevens is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Stevens cracks Trenton with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
