The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Askren fails in his attempt to clinch.
Askren takes a swing at Banks's ribcage but misses.
Askren on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Banks connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Banks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Askren doesn't manage to clinch there - Banks circles away.
Banks throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Askren shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Banks pinned against the cage. Banks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Askren throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Askren shoots for a takedown but Banks saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Banks scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Askren tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Banks throws a series of punches but Askren moves out of range.
Banks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Banks connects with the punch.
Banks connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Banks throws out a powerful jab.
Askren throws a left and a right that both miss
and Banks counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Askren is rocked!
Banks is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Oh Askren is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Banks jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Banks scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Banks lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Banks pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Askren back to the cage. Banks follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Banks scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Banks throws a nice inside leg kick.
Askren tries to close the distance and clinch but Banks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Askren closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Askren stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Askren seems to have got his legs back now.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Askren.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Markus Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Askren tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Banks swivels and escapes.
Askren throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Banks's waist but Banks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Askren off to one side.

Askren closes the distance and clinches up with Banks, looking for a takedown. Askren pushes Banks against the cage but Banks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Scott Banks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Askren fails with the takedown.
Askren walks into a left hand.
Banks stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Banks swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Banks lands a big right hand that sends Askren crashing to the mat! Banks stays standing though and waves Askren back to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Banks drops Askren with a naaaaasty hook - Askren is in real trouble here! Banks dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
