Smith comes to the ring accompanied by You've Seen the Butcher. Steele has chosen Lil Wayne-Drop the World as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A slow jab from Steele misses its intended target.
Steele displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.
Smith takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Smith dives in and grabs Steele's left leg, looking for a takedown. Steele pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.
Smith moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Steele shows good takedown defense.

Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Steele avoids it really well and circles away.
Steele throws a lazy right hand but Smith sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Steele drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Steele jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Steele is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith.
Steele wants to get back to striking at distance but Smith won't allow it.

Smith tries for a takedown but Steele sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ben Steele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith pivots, looking for a leg kick but Steele is out of range and Smith settles back down.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Steele sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Smith here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Steele pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Steele avoids the attempt from Smith to control.
Steele is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Smith to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Smith shrugs it off.
Smith is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smith defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Steele.
Steele breaks from Smith's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Smith tries to buck Steele off but he can't manage it.
The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Smith is rocked!
A big strike lands for Steele! That's really hurt Smith and he's turned his back - Steele keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Steele jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

In his post fight interview, Ben Steele started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
