The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demol misses with a double jab.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Demol as he avoids it easily.
Demol defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Taylor.
Demol fails to land the takedown.
Horrible takedown by Demol or perhaps it was just good defense by Taylor which made him look bad.

Taylor looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Demol!

Taylor is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Demol has escaped the position, nice work there.

Taylor is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Demol knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Taylor working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Taylor looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Taylor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Taylor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Demol tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Taylor wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Demol's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Taylor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Taylor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Taylor is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Demol is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Taylor has hold of Demol's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Demol tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Taylor cranks the arm and Demol screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Demol, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mark Taylor!
Mark Taylor was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
