PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Malcolm Hopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hopkins might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Part II. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopkins lands a glancing blow to the side of Lewis's head.
Lewis smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Lewis looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hopkins thows a leg kick but Lewis checks it
and Lewis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lewis tries to clinch there but Hopkins circles away.
Hopkins throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lewis sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hopkins shoots in looking for a takedown. Lewis tries to sprawl out of it but Hopkins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lewis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hopkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lewis throws an overhand right that lands on Hopkins's shoulder, as Hopkins tries to avoid the shot.
Lewis turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Hopkins ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lewis moves away.

Lewis takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hopkins checks a leg kick nicely.
Hopkins blocks a jab.
Lewis throws a low kick but Hopkins moves out of range easily.
Hopkins avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Lewis takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Lewis throws a leg kick which misses Hopkins's front leg but catches the back leg as Hopkins tries to avoid it.

and Lewis counters with a low kick, right behind Hopkins 's knee.
Lewis feints and then cracks Hopkins's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hopkins down.
Lewis scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Hopkins throws an off balance right hand
enabling Lewis to counter with a crisp jab.
Leonard Lewis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lewis lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Hopkins shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lewis eats them both and turns towards Hopkins to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Lewis connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hopkins attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Nice cross by Lewis.
Lewis lands a head kick. Hopkins smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Lewis throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hopkins feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Lewiss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Hopkins thows a body shot but no joy.
Lewis connects with a leg kick. Hopkins looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hopkins missing with a left hand there. Lewis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Hopkins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lewis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hopkins somewhat.

Lewis moves out of range of the leg kick from Hopkins.
Lewis connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Lewis works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Hopkins misses with a hook.
Hopkins on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Lewis. Lewis obviously looking to wear him down.
Lewis digs a good body shot into Hopkins's ribs.
A slow jab from Lewis misses its intended target.
Lewis throws a lazy right hand but Hopkins sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hopkins scores with a crisp jab that stopped Lewis in his tracks.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hopkins slips under a jab.
Lewis cracks a nice hook into Hopkins's ribs.

Hopkins is looking to land body kicks.
Hopkins displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lewis throws out the jab.
Lewis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lewis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
No joy there for Hopkins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hopkins has a takedown stuffed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Lewis counters with a thumping low kick.
Hopkins takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hopkins has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Lewis.
Lewis sizes up Hopkins with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Lewis jabs Hopkins to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Lewis feints and then cracks Hopkins's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hopkins down.
Leonard Lewis seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lewis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hopkins.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Hopkins might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Hopkins misses with an uppercut. Lewis saw that one coming.
A swing and a miss from Hopkins.
Lewis keeps Hopkins at a distance using the push kick.

Lewis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hopkins manages to avoid it.

Lewis drives through and clinches with Hopkins against the cage.
Lewis throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hopkinss head.
Lewis lands an elbow inside.

Hopkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lewis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hopkins.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hopkins scores with a one two! Lewis had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Lewis lands a leg kick that knocks Hopkins off balance momentarily.
Lewis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hopkins.
Lewis thuds his shin into the meat of Hopkins's side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lewis cracks Hopkins with an open hand slap.
Nice jab there from Lewis.

Hopkins is rocked!

Lewis drops Hopkins with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hopkins looks back up at him and smiles so Lewis waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Hopkins is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lewis fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Lewis cracks Hopkins on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Hopkins falls backwards against the cage. Lewis follows up with more strikes that drop Hopkins to his knees. Lewis keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Hopkins! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leonard Lewis! Leonard Lewis retains his middleweight title!
