Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Micki Angelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Nix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Nix will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nix darts in trying to clinch
and Angelo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Nix clinches.
Angelo struggles to land a body shot inside as Nix controls his hands.
Angelo jumps guard but Nix turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Nix lands an elbow inside.
Angelo dodges an elbow strike from Nix.
Nix manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Nix throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Angelo tries to break free but Nix pushes him back against the cage.
Nix misses with an elbow over the top.
Angelo blocks an elbow strike.
Nix lands a knee to the body.

Angelo takes an elbow to the temple.

Nix is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Nix keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Angelo's efforts to push away.

Nix is fighting off a takedown attempt but Angelo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nix to the mat. Nix regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Angelo drops back looking for a leg! Nix is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nix manages to kick Angelo off! Angelo jumps back into Nix's guard.

Angelo passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nix won't allow Angelo to pass to mount.

Angelo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Nix to get to his feet.
Angelo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nix's waist but Nix gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Angelo off to one side.

Nix tries to close the distance and clinch but Angelo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Angelo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Angelo drags the fight down to the ground.
Angelo wants to sweep here but Nix controlling him for the moment.

Angelo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Angelo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nix gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nix wants to control from the top but Angelo keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Angelo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nix manages to get himself to full guard.
Angelo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nix pushes Angelo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Angelo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nix wants to clinch up but Angelo keeps it at a distance.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nix just misses with a elbow thrown towards Angelo's brow.
Nix misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Angelo.

Angelo wants to take the fight to the mat but Nix manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Nix can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Angelo controls the pace.

Angelo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Nix cracks the inside of Angelo's front leg.
Nix takes one on the chin but seems OK.

It looks like Jon Nix has been cut.

and Angelo counters with a right hand to the body.

Angelo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nix is looking to clinch.
Nix closes the distance but Angelo moves to the side

so Angelo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Angelo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Angelo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Angelo wants to pass the guard but Nix is keeping the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Micki Angelo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Nix tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Angelo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nix moves in looking to clinch but Angelo pushes him off.

Angelo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Nix is looking to stand up but Angelo isn't so interested in that idea.

Angelo chips away with some ground and pound.
Nix is still in real trouble! Can Angelo finish him?
Angelo loads up on a big left hand. Nix felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Angelo looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Nix can't hide his disappointment, as Angelo celebrates the victory.
