The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kennedy blocks a head kick by Rijsbergen.
Rijsbergen looks for the body kick but Kennedy saw that one coming.
Kennedy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kennedy throws a front kick that sends Rijsbergen stumbling back into the cage.
Rijsbergen just misses with a punch to the body.
Rijsbergen throws a lazy right hand but Kennedy sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kennedy tries for a takedown but Rijsbergen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rijsbergen cracks the inside of Kennedy's front leg.
Rijsbergen throws a series of punches but Kennedy moves out of range.
Rijsbergen throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Rijsbergen wants to clinch.

Kennedy closes the distance and clinches.

Rijsbergen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rijsbergen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kennedy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rijsbergen quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Kennedy sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rijsbergen is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Kennedy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rijsbergen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kennedy decides to stand back up.
Kennedy shoots in looking for a takedown. Rijsbergen tries to sprawl out of it but Kennedy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rijsbergen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
David Rijsbergen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rijsbergen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kennedy looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Rijsbergen stuffs the takedown attempt from Kennedy. Kennedy gets slowly back to his feet.

enabling Kennedy to counter with a crisp jab.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I would just about give that final round to Michael Kennedy.
