And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane Falco!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Falco tries a head kick but it misses.

Falco moves into the clinch.
Falco throws a head punch that misses.

Mendez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Falco stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Falco wants it to stay on the feet.
No joy there for Falco, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Falco blocks a leg kick.
Mendez has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Tony Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendez shoots in looking for a takedown. Falco tries to sprawl out of it but Mendez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Falco manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mendez moves away from the strike by Falco.
Mendez lands with a shot to the body.

Falco gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mendez.
Falco tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mendez lands a nice looking body kick.
Falco throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Mendez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mendez wants to pass the guard but Falco is defending well.

Mendez is working for a kimura but Falco is defending it quite comfortably.
Mendez wants to pass to mount but Falco is defending the position.
Falco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Falco wants to get back to his feet.

Mendez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Mendez is looking to advance position but Falco won't allow it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mendez is trying to work for a kimura but Falco is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mendez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Falco is trying to defend but Mendez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Mendez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mendez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Mendez works his foot free and advances to mount.

Falco really wants to buck Mendez off and get back to his feet.

Mendez is landing with some decent strikes but Falco is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Mendez is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Mendez extends the arm and Falco is forced to tap!
