PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sandy Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soto has chosen WASP - Wild Child as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sandy Soto!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker swinging wildly here.
Walker misses with a straight left.

Soto drives through and clinches with Walker against the cage.
Walker misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Walker misses with a hook from the clinch.
Walker tries to break free but Soto pushes him back against the cage.

Soto has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Walker clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Soto controlling well, preventing Walker from escaping the position.
Soto controls the action.
Walker just trying to survive but Soto is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Soto is looking for the choke from the back position but Walker is controlling his hands well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Walker is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Soto.
Soto is not going to allow Walker to sit and survive in this position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Soto doesn't have the hooks in and Walker manages to turn into his guard.
Walker wants to get up but he can't break Soto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Soto seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Walker fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Soto manages to avoid it.

Soto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walker's guard.

Walker looking for a guillotine here but Soto defends easily.
Soto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Soto working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Walker's head.
Soto throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Soto lands a couple of elbows.

Walker throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Soto escapes and throws Walker's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Walker is trying to control Soto's posture but Soto avoids it.
Walker gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Soto content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Soto prevents Walker from improving his position.
Soto moves nicely into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Soto lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Walker wants to get back to his feet.
Soto controlling the position from side mount.
Walker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
A lull in the action here.
Soto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Soto looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Soto is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Walker's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Soto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Soto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Walker is looking to get back to his feet here but Soto is keeping cool and he's managed to take Walker's back.
Walker is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Walker trying to control the hands but Soto won't let him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Walker is in bad spot here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Walker showing good submission defense here.
What can Walker do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sandy Soto dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A combination from Walker does no damage.
Soto throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Walker blocks a head kick by Soto.
A head kick misses from Walker.

Soto looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Walker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Soto on the ground.

Walker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Soto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Soto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soto stays in close to Walker's body and controls the position.
Soto forces his way into half guard.
Walker trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Soto manages to pass to mount!
Soto controlling his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soto is working for a guillotine from mount but Walker frees his head quite easily.
Walker taking shots to the head.
Soto controlling the position easily from mount.

Soto working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Soto is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walker tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Soto is able to avoid easily.
Walker throws an off balance right hand

and Soto counters with a shoot takedown. Walker fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Soto is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Walker has his foot on Soto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Soto works his way back into a safe position though.
Walker can't keep his opponent in guard - Soto advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Walker is looking for a sweep. Soto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Soto perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sandy Soto has got the better of the ground game so far.
Walker is trying to control but Soto manages to pass to mount!
Soto prevents Walker from getting the reversal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Soto lands a big elbow.
Walker taking shots to the head.
Walker looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Soto connects with a big shot to the side of Walker's head.
Walker has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Soto controlling the positon.
Walker covers up after that shot from Soto.
Soto really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Walker.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Soto is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Walker with him. Walker is trying to defend but Soto has an arm under the chin now! Walker grimaces and is forced to tap out!
