Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gripp Lair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jadyson Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lair misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Costa drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Costa tries to stand but Lair is controlling his head.
Costa tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Costa postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Costa cracks Lair with a big elbow.
Costa working the strikes but Lair uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Costa throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Lair to regain full guard.

Costa tries to free his leg and advance position but Lair is retaining full guard.
Costa cracks Lair with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Costa wants to get up but he can't break Lair's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Costa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Costa controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Costa throws a strike but Lair rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Costa is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lair can't fight it off and eventually Costa manages to take the fight to the floor. Lair looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Costa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lair sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Costa somewhat.

Lair moves into the clinch.

Costa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lair really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Costa pushes Lair back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Costa feints and as Lair raises his hands in defense, Costa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Costa wants to stand but Lair is controlling his posture from full guard.
Costa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Costa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Costa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jadyson Costa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Costa has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
