Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergio Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeong Park!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Park misses with a takedown
and Vega counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Vega shoots in and gets a takedown into Park's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Park has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vega can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Park is adopting a defensive guard.
Park is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vega slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Vega won't allow Park to get back to his feet.
Vega stopping the sweep attempt from Park.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeong Park was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Park takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A punch combination from Park misses.
Park shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vega pinned against the cage. Vega gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sergio Vega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeong Park.
Park doesn't manage to clinch there - Vega circles away.
Park wants to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Park swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Vega lands a body shot.
Vega scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Vega checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Vega shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Park napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Park gets back to half guard.
Park tries to get to full guard but Vega has control of the leg.
Park wants to control but Vega is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Vega throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Vega missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sergio Vega will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Vega uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Park.
Park moves in looking to clinch but Vega pushes him off.
Vega digs a good body shot into Park's ribs.
Park tries to clinch but Vega is having none of it.
Jeong Park seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vega tries to keep at a distance but Park has taken the fight into the clinch.
Vega is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Park is defending well.

Park drags the fight down to the ground.
Park is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Park thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vega's head.
Vega on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vega tries to get out of the position.

Park in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Vega tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Park!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jeong Park!
After winning the bout, Jeong Park thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
