PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Julz The Jackal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall McMurphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Jackal comes into the arena with The Jackal blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randall McMurphy!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMurphy tries to clinch up but The Jackal circles away and keeps his distance.

McMurphy postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for The Jackal to stand up.

You can see the frustration on The Jackal's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

McMurphy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. The Jackal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The Jackal is trying to escape the position but McMurphy is controlling the position.

McMurphy wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Jackal keeps working.
McMurphy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down The Jackal's shoulder. That is not cool.

McMurphy decides to stand back up. McMurphy steps back and let's The Jackal get back to his feet.

The Jackal has McMurphy pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. The Jackal pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending McMurphy tumbling to the mat - The Jackal dives into McMurphy's guard.

McMurphy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. The Jackal manages to get himself to full guard.
McMurphy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and McMurphy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McMurphy.
McMurphy passes The Jackal's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McMurphy is taking a breather. The Jackal says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McMurphy lands a nice short elbow.
McMurphy looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randall McMurphy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The Jackal shoots for a double leg takedown but McMurphy sprawls well. He's pushed The Jackal's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McMurphy tries to score a power double leg takedown but The Jackal sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McMurphy somewhat.

McMurphy has The Jackal pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McMurphy pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending The Jackal tumbling to the mat - McMurphy dives into The Jackal's guard.
The Jackal is striking from the bottom but McMurphy uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Randall McMurphy is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

McMurphy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches The Jackal napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Randall McMurphy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McMurphy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
