PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Blok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mamed Skursyniev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blok comes into the arena with Castle of Glass blaring out of the sound system. Skursyniev has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Mamed Skursyniev will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Blok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mamed Skursyniev!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blok decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Skursyniev looks winded!

Blok is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Skursyniev defends it well.
Blok lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Blok winds up and cracks Skursyniev with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Skursyniev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blok. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Skursyniev is in trouble now - Blok has advanced to mount!
Skursyniev is in a horrible position here. Blok smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Blok cracks Skursyniev with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blok lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blok lands a nice shot to the head.

Blok quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Blok but it's paid off an Skursyniev is forced to tap! Nice work by Blok.

Michael Blok opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
