Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chris Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bastian Nokia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bastian Nokia will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bastian Nokia!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nokia enables Griffin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nokia manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Nokia is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Griffin trying to control but Nokia is working from the bottom.
Griffin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nokia keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Griffin wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Griffin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Griffin is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Nokia reverses the position - he's now on top in Griffin's guard.
Griffin is looking to stand back up but Nokia counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Griffin.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Griffin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nokia is thwarting Griffin's attempts to control the position.
Nokia is keen to just control but Griffin is a slippery customer.

Nokia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

We're going to have a standup here because Chris Griffin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Nokia gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Griffin wants to stand but Nokia is controlling his posture from full guard.

Griffin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Griffin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Nokia is trying to stand.

Griffin wants to advance to full mount but Nokia doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Griffin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Griffin looking to score a takedown here. Nokia is defending well but Griffin drives through and ends up in Nokia's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Griffin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Nokia avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Griffin.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nokia is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Griffin scores with a couple of nice shots.

Griffin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Still in half guard, Griffin seems content to control.
Griffin wants to control but Nokia is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nokia is looking to escape.
Griffin wants to control but Nokia is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chris Griffin.

Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nokia sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Griffin is trying to control the action in half guard but Nokia is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Nokia wants to get back to his feet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Griffin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Griffin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nokia keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Griffin wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Griffin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nokia on his heels. He'll look to pass Nokia's guard now, I'm sure.
Griffin wants to pass the guard but Nokia is keeping the position.
Nokia is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Griffin is controlling him.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Griffin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Nokia!

Nokia is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Griffin has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Griffin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Nokia's legs.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Griffin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Griffin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
