The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloggett misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Love tries to keep at a distance but Sloggett has taken the fight into the clinch.
Love is looking to take this one to the mat.

Sloggett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Love swats away the attempt to clinch by Sloggett.

and Love counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sloggett won't be happy with that.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Love is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Love takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Love breaks from Sloggett's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Love wants to control the pace but Sloggett is squirming around nicely.
Sloggett tries to reverse the position but Love maintains control.
Love cracks Sloggett with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Love prevents Sloggett from getting the reversal.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Love postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sloggett looks a forlorn figure.

Sloggett has Love pressed against the cage, preventing Love from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Sloggett tries to pull guard but Love holds him up against the cage and eventually Sloggett drops back down to his feet.

Sloggett can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Love controls the pace.

Love decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sloggett, up you get!
Wayne Love seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Love shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Sloggett counters with a nice uppercut.
Love sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Love tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sloggett sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Love somewhat.

and Sloggett counters with a nice low kick that buckles Love's knee momentarily.

Sloggett doesn't manage to clinch there - Love circles away.

Love closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sloggett's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Love sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Sloggett is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Sloggett is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Love's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Sloggett has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Love is working away from the top position though.

Love seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sloggett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wayne Love.
