Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spiro Manitas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gunnar Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spiro Manitas!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Manitas fails in his attempt to clinch.
Manitas misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Manitas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Manitas tries for a takedown but Jackson circles away easily

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Manitas wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jackson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Manitas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson seems to be working for a kimura but Manitas defends the submission attempt.
Manitas is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.

Jackson is pressing down on Manitas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Manitas is holding on for now.

Jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jackson distracts Manitas with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Manitas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Manitas tries to reverse the position but Jackson maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Manitas defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Jackson.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jackson looking to finish Manitas with some ground and pound. This is bad for Manitas!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gunnar Jackson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Jackson looking to score a takedown here. Manitas is defending well but Jackson drives through and ends up in Manitas's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson drops back looking for a leg! Manitas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Manitas manages to kick Jackson off! Jackson jumps back into Manitas's guard.

Manitas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Jackson drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Jackson seems to have locked his on tight now - Manitas screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Jackson, as he picks up the win!
