Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aran Schmeck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michel Rodalgo!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rodalgo closes the distance and clinches.
Rodalgo scores with a shot to the side of Schmeck's head.
Rodalgo presses Schmeck against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Rodalgo can't find room to land a body shot as Schmeck controls the action.
Schmeck is trying to break the clinch but Rodalgo is controlling him.

Rodalgo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rodalgo scores with a jab to the jaw.

so Schmeck counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rodalgo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schmeck defends well.
Rodalgo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Schmeck avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Schmeck tries to free his leg and advance position but Rodalgo is retaining full guard.
Schmeck engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Schmeck got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rodalgo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Schmeck has managed to get both his arms back between Rodalgo's legs - danger averted.

Schmeck thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodalgo wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schmeck is in close to Rodalgo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodalgo looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Schmeck passes into side control.
Rodalgo is not content to let Schmeck control the position.
Schmeck looks up at the clock and then as Rodalgo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Schmeck smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Schmeck looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Schmeck wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rodalgo keeps working.
Rodalgo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Schmeck has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rodalgo can't do much from the bottom here.

Schmeck tries for a kimura but Rodalgo is defending well.
Schmeck is looking to take a break and control but Rodalgo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rodalgo is trying to control Schmeck's posture but Schmeck avoids it.
Schmeck throws an elbow but Rodalgo slips to the side and avoids it well.
You can see the frustration on Rodalgo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rodalgo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schmeck wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Rodalgo is trying to control Schmeck's posture but Schmeck avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Schmeck is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Rodalgo looks calm but he's in trouble here. Schmeck gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Rodalgo is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Schmeck lets go of the hold and Rodalgo can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Aran Schmeck!
