PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matheus Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ridin' Dirty kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Lucas!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Santos. Lucas does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lucas fails to land with a series of punches.
Lucas misses with a low kick.
Lucas wants to land a leg kick but Santos is out of range.

Santos scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lucas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Lucas looks to move to half guard but instead Santos has passed into mount! Damn!
Santos with shots to the head and body - Lucas looks very uncomfortable down there.

Santos gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Lucas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lucas wants it to stay on the feet.
Santos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lucas.

Lucas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Santos feints and as Lucas raises his hands in defense, Santos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Santos passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Santos is breathing heavily.
Lucas manages to work his way to half guard, despite Santos's best efforts.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santos avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lucas wants to improve his position but instead Santos has moved into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lucas is not content to let Santos control the position.

A close round but Matheus Lucas will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lucas throws his legs up looking for a submission but Santos uses it to pass to side control.

Lucas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Santos pulls his head out easily.
Santos throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Santos is trying to control the action in half guard but Lucas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Santos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lucas tries to roll over but Santos keeps him under control.
Lucas is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jorge Santos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lucas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jorge Santos will probably get the nod.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Lucas tries to bum rush Santos with a series of wild strikes but Santos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sloppy strikes from Lucas. Those never looked like landing.
Lucas stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Lucas lands with a good body shot.

Lucas tries to land a leg kick but Santos saw it coming and moves away.
Santos dives in and grabs Lucas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lucas pushes down on Santos's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jorge Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Santos walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Lucas's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lucas duly obliges.
Santos closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Matheus Lucas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lucas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
