Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Russian Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oleg Vasiliev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasiliev is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Zombie by The Cranberries. Oleg Vasiliev will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Russian Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oleg Vasiliev!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasiliev leaves Power with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Power takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Vasiliev throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Power avoids a punch combination nicely.
Vasiliev lands a body shot.
Vasiliev tried to score with a low kick but Power checks it.
Power circles away from the clinch attempt.
A punch combination from Vasiliev misses.
Oleg Vasiliev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vasiliev throws a series of punches but Power avoids them all with ease.
Vasiliev misses with a hook.
Vasiliev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Power.
Power closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vasiliev circles away.

Vasiliev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Power swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Power is not content to let Vasiliev control the position.
Vasiliev might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Power haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Oleg Vasiliev.
Vasiliev lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Vasiliev throws a series of punches but Power moves out of range.
Vasiliev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Power shoots in looking for a takedown but Vasiliev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Power's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Vasiliev misses with a series of wild punches.
Vasiliev looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Power.
Power showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vasiliev.

Vasiliev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Power.
Vasiliev goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Vasiliev drives through with a takedown into Power's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vasiliev feints and as Power raises his hands in defense, Vasiliev changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vasiliev pushes down on Power's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Vasiliev is looking to stall here but Power recovers full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Vasiliev wants to control from the top but Power keeps moving.

Vasiliev gets to his feet - Power follows without any prompting.

Vasiliev throws a right hand that Power ducks under and follows up with a left that Power also avoids with ease.

Power has a takedown stuffed.

Vasiliev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Vasiliev has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Vasiliev tries to control but Power wriggling away.
Power on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Power tries to get out of the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vasiliev tries to control but Power wriggling away.
Vasiliev takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Power slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Oleg Vasiliev has got the better of the ground game so far.
Vasiliev seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Power does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Oleg Vasiliev.
Power doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Vasiliev counters with a right hand to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oleg Vasiliev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Vasiliev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Power fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Power moves out of range of the body kick from Vasiliev.
Vasiliev tries to bum rush Power with a series of wild strikes but Power uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Power. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

and Power counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vasiliev is looking to control Power's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vasiliev avoid being mounted?

Power throwing shots but Vasiliev is blocking nicely.

Power prevents Vasiliev from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Power lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Vasiliev is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Power is aware though and is defending well.
Power cracks Vasiliev with a solid left hand.

Power throws a strike but Vasiliev rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Oleg Vasiliev is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Vasiliev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Oleg Vasiliev wasn't active enough on the ground.

Vasiliev closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Power did well to prevent Vasiliev getting side control.

Oleg Vasiliev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vasiliev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
