Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rock Esnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Smalls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Esnar comes to the cage accompanied by 10,000 Fists in the Air. Smalls has chosen Lamb of God - Omerta as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rock Esnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Smalls!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Esnar gets caught flat footed, as Smalls shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Esnar working a defensive guard here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smalls accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Esnar has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Esnar looking for a sweep. Not yet Esnar, not yet.
Smalls keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Esnar's head.
Smalls has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Esnar is proving hard to escape from.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smalls's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Esnar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Smalls slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smalls tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Esnar postures up in Smalls's guard and throws a big left but Smalls blocks it.
Esnar slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Esnar scoring with punches and elbows.
Esnar advances to full mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smalls can do anything to dispel that myth.
Esnar lands a heavy elbow.
Smalls tries to hold on but Esnar pushes him away.
Smalls is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smalls taking shots to the head.
Esnar fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Esnar trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Esnar jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Smalls manages to avoid the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Esnar is looking to take a break and control but Smalls is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Esnar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smalls is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Esnar is looking to take a break and control but Smalls is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smalls wants to control but Esnar postures up.
Smalls is looking for a sweep.
Smalls keeping his opponent close.
Esnar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smalls tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Esnar working the ground and pound.
Smalls really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Esnar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Esnar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Esnar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Esnar scores with punches from side control.
Smalls is trying to get back to half guard.
Smalls tries to escape but Esnar is in control.

Esnar thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Esnar moves into full mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Smalls defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Esnar.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smalls tries to lock up and control but Esnar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Smalls is desperately trying to improve his position but Esnar has a good base and remains in mount.
Smalls looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Esnar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Esnar is working for a rear naked choke. Smalls is not defending it well and Esnar has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Smalls refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Smalls's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rock Esnar!
In his post fight interview, Rock Esnar gave a big smile as he said 'I'd like to thank my sponsors, unfortunately I can't because I have none.'.
