Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Vita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Ries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Vita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chase Ries!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ries with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Ries closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ries working the ground and pound but Vita is defending the strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ries controlling from side mount.
Vita on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vita tries to get out of the position.
Ries wants to control but Vita is keeping him busy.
Ries working the strikes but Vita uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vita is trying to stand.
Ries tries to pass to full mount but Vita defends it.
Vita is looking to escape.
Ries perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ries missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ries is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Vita reverses the position - he's now on top in Ries's guard.
Ries is pulling down on Vita's head. It's preventing any offense from Vita, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ries is looking to stand up but Vita isn't so interested in that idea.
Vita wants to control from the top but Ries keeps moving.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Vita throwing strikes from guard but Ries blocks nicely.
Vita postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ries looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vita is one step ahead there.
Ries is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vita stands up over Ries, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Vita stops Ries from standing up.
Vita postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ries is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Ries wants to get back to his feet but Vita is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ries wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chase Ries wasn't active enough on the ground.

Ries scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ries wants to advance to full mount but Vita doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Ries wants to control from the top but Vita keeps moving.
Ries throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Ries trying to control but Vita is working from the bottom.
Ries seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chase Ries.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ries misses with a takedown attempt - Vita sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chase Ries dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Vita with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ries to score with a decent uppercut.

Ries throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Vita tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ries is in Vita's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ries accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Vita is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ries throws a big right hand that misses.
Ries trying to control but Vita is working from the bottom.
Ries engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Vita needs to keep his hands up - Ries had a free shot at his head there.
Ries looks for a takedown but Vita sprawls well.
Ries dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ries lands with a straight right. Vita didn't see that one coming.

Ries bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ries working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ries trying to control the action but Vita is working from the bottom.

Ries slows the pace down.
Ries tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Ries lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Ries is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
An elbow from Ries crashes against the mat.

Ries working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Ries trying to control the position but Vita is working away.
Ries looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Vita is avoiding damage well.
Ries in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Ries is trying to ground and pound but Vita uses the momentary lack of control by Ries to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ries sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Vita defending well though.
Vita is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ries not doing much here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Ries thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vita's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chase Ries showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Ries must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ries has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ries uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vita.

Ries shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vita napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ries wants to control but Vita is keeping him busy.
Ries moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Vita is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ries asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Chase Ries has got the better of the ground game so far.

Vita dodges the ground and pound from Ries.
Vita avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ries.
Ries throwing strikes but Vita manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Ries tries to bench press Vita off him but Vita keeps the position.
Ries sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Ries controlling the position for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ries tries to kick Vita off but Vita keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ries is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Vita throwing shots but Ries is blocking nicely.
Vita working Ries over with strikes.
Ries avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Vita.
Ries is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ries pushes Vita off looking to stand but Vita dives back in and keeps control.
Ries trying to control here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Vita is looking to take a break and control but Ries is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ries tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Vita manages to move to mount!
Ries wants to control but Vita is having none of it.
Ries is looking to improve his position but Vita isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ries trying desperately to get to his feet.
Ries is desperately trying to improve his position but Vita has a good base and remains in mount.
Vita looking to finish Ries with some ground and pound. This is bad for Ries!

Ries is rocked!
Vita drops a big elbow. That's hurt Ries! More shots from Vita and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Vita!
Joe Vita decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
