PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Del Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arizona Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Del Rio might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Requiem for a dream. Arizona Reed told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Del Rio moves in looking to clinch but Reed pushes him off.
Reed misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Del Rio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Reed.
Reed with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Del Rio avoids the head kick by Reed.
Del Rio is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Reed.

It looks like Alberto Del Rio has been cut.
Reed throws a big shot that misses.
Reed throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Reed swinging wildly here.
Reed throws a nice looking combination but Del Rio bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Reed waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Del Rio.
Del Rio avoids the body shot from Reed.
Reed takes a jab right on the kisser.

Reed throws a jab but it's blocked by Del Rio.
Reed throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Reed moves out of range of the strikes.

Del Rio instigates a clinch.
Reed with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Del Rio stalls.
Del Rio creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Del Rio breaks the clinch.

Del Rio gets the takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Del Rio working away.
Reed is looking for a sweep.
Del Rio wants to stand but Reed is controlling his arm.

Del Rio has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Del Rio fails with a takedown attempt.
Reed throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Del Rio's waist but Del Rio gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reed off to one side.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Reed fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Del Rio throws a sloppy head kick and Reed moves out of range easily.
Reed misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Reed dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Del Rio closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reed quickly recovers to half guard.

Reed is controlling Del Rio's trapped leg to prevent Del Rio from advancing to side control.
Reed looks winded!
Reed is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Del Rio is pressing down on Reed's thigh, looking to free his foot. Reed is holding on for now.
Reed desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Del Rio seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Alberto Del Rio has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
A head kick misses from Del Rio.

Del Rio looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Reed!

Del Rio stands up and beckons Reed to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Reed throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Del Rio.
Reed shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Del Rio sprawls well. Del Rio wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Reed gets slowly back to his feet.
Alberto Del Rio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arizona Reed.
Reed lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Del Rio circles away quickly and effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alberto Del Rio will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Reed fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The fighters circling - Reed throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A jab from Del Rio misses.
Reed lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Reed swats away the attempt to clinch by Del Rio.

Del Rio gets the takedown into side control.
Del Rio wants to stand but Reed has his arm trapped.
Reed is trying to improve his position.

Del Rio stands up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Del Rio doesn't manage to clinch there - Reed circles away.
Reed thuds his right hand into Del Rio's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Arizona Reed seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Del Rio tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reed paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Reed looks to land a body kick but Del Rio moved away.
Left hook, right uppercut from Reed.

Del Rio is rocked!
Reed drops Del Rio with a straight right hand, right on the button! Reed follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Arizona Reed bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
