Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Askos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Kallai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phillip Askos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Viktor Kallai!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askos misses with an uppercut

and Kallai counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kallai is taking a breather. Askos says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Askos is looking to control Kallai's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Askos avoid being mounted?
Kallai stalling.
Askos could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Viktor Kallai wasn't active enough on the ground.
Askos throws a predictable looking body shot
and Kallai counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Askos closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Kallai closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Askos is trying to control Kallai's posture but Kallai avoids it.
Kallai tries to score with some ground and pound. Askos controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Kallai throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Kallai is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Askos will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Askos wants to control but Kallai postures up.
Kallai in side control lands a decent elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Askos on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Askos gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Kallai is taking a breather. Askos says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kallai has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kallai thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Askos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kallai is working away from the top position though.

Kallai wants to work for an arm triangle but Askos is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Kallai might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Askos looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Askos looking to control.
Kallai content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Kallai is working Askos over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Kallai is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kallai postures up in Askos's guard and throws a big left but Askos blocks it.
Kallai seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Askos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kallai's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Askos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

enabling Kallai to counter with a crisp jab.

and Kallai counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Askos looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Askos wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kallai has him pressed against the cage.

Askos is controlling Kallai's trapped leg to prevent Kallai from advancing to side control.

Askos is trying to maintain the position but Kallai is very close to passing his half guard.
Askos is in trouble now - Kallai has advanced to mount!

Kallai jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Askos is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Askos and Kallai has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Kallai trying to control the action but Askos is working from the bottom.

Askos takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.


It looks like Phillip Askos has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kallai in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Kallai throws a strike aimed at the side of Askos's head but Askos avoids it well.

Kallai is putting a hurting on Askos here, landing some big shots from side control.
Kallai wants to lay and pray for a moment but Askos keeps working.

Kallai tries to advance to mount but Askos denies him.

Kallai just content to control the position.
The ground and pound from Kallai seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Kallai wants to control but Askos is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Askos struggling a bit here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kallai in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Kallai wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Askos, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viktor Kallai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Phillip Askos's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


A head kick misses from Askos.
Askos just misses with a punch to the body.
Askos fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kallai drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kallai landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Askos tries to control but Kallai manages to take his back.
Askos looking very determined here, making life difficult for Kallai.
Kallai has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Askos.

Askos defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

Askos is in bad spot here.

Kallai is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Askos is defending well though. Kallai let's go of the attempt for now.
Kallai is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Kallai gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Kallai gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Kallai apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Askos shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Phillip Askos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Askos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Askos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Kallai has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Askos uses from the top position.
Kallai manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Askos manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kallai looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Viktor Kallai has got the better of the ground game so far.
Let's hope that Kallai has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Kallai lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Phillip Askos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Viktor Kallai hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Kallai counters with a nice double leg into side control. Askos won't be happy with that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Askos takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Viktor Kallai is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Askos is trying to buck Kallai off.
