PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Koni Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maximus might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Maui Boy. Tim Lewis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximus avoids a kick to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lewis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lewis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

so Maximus counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maximus advances to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lewis lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Lewis is looking to control Maximus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lewis avoid being mounted?

Maximus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lewis defends it well.
Maximus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lewis flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Maximus is looking to take a break and control but Lewis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lewis has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Maximus is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lewis.

Maximus has got his arm under Lewis's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Lewis has spun round into Maximus's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Maximus has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Lewis doesn't defend quickly enough and Maximus has managed to lock this one up! Can Lewis escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Maximus on a fantastic submission victory.
