PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yacoub Qura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magnum P I (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Qura kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is The Finest - MF Doom. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

P I shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Qura's guard.
P I wants to pass the guard but Qura is keeping the position.
Qura is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Qura knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for P I on the ground.
P I controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Qura is looking to stand up but P I isn't so interested in that idea.
P I tries to free his leg and advance position but Qura is retaining full guard.

P I passes into half guard.

P I is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
P I tries to pass to full mount but Qura defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
P I trying to control from half guard but Qura is working away.
P I content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Qura is looking to improve his position.
Qura is staying active underneath P I, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

P I is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

P I is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
P I prevents Qura from improving his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
P I wants to control but Qura is keeping him busy.
Qura wants to get back to his feet.
P I moves nicely into side control.
Qura is not content to let P I control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Magnum P I dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Qura throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
P I shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Qura but Qura pushes him off and we're back to square one.

P I drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Qura manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
P I content to control rather than advance.
Qura is looking for a sweep. P I is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

P I is looking for a kimura here.

P I wants to work for an arm triangle but Qura is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

P I is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Qura has managed to free his arm - good work.
Qura wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
P I is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

P I wants to finish this one by submission but Qura is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from P I.
P I content just to control the position here.

P I can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Qura is looking to escape.

P I working for a guillotine from mount but Qura is in no mood to give up.

P I working for a submission but Qura is keeping him at bay.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Qura has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Qura has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Magnum P I showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

P I bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
P I moves into full mount!
P I seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Qura is holding on tight.
P I controlling his opponent.
P I looking to control but Qura is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Qura really wants to buck P I off and get back to his feet.

P I looking to secure an arm triangle but Qura defends it well.
Qura is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
P I wants to control the action but instead Qura gets a body lock and reverses into P I's guard! Nice work!
Yacoub Qura has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Qura won't allow P I to sweep him here.

Qura is sitting in close to P I's body. P I has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Qura is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Qura is tapping! That was a very nice submission by P I.
