PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sthawy Sthowp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sthowp might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Blind Guardian - Into the Storn. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sthawy Sthowp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira misses with a takedown attempt

and Sthowp holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Oliveira tries to work over Sthowp's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Oliveira jumps guard but Sthowp stands there with Oliveira around his waist. Oliveira gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Oliveira swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Oliveira manages to break the clinch.

Sthowp throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Oliveira tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sthowp is in Oliveira's guard.
Sthowp connects with a couple of short punches.
Sthowp lands a couple of digs.
Oliveira trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Oliveira thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Sthowp sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Sthowp is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Oliveira throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sthowp connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sthowp pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Oliveira is keeping the position for now.
Oliveira throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Sthowp is working Oliveira over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Oliveira is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sthowp lands a nice short elbow.

Oliveira wants to get back to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oliveira wants to control but Sthowp is keeping busy.
Sthowp is nestled in close to Oliveira, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oliveira flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Oliveira throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Oliveira is looking for a sweep. Sthowp is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Sthowp working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Sthowp is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Oliveira doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sthowp.
Sthowp lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Sthowp moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Oliveira.
Sthowp has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sthowp content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Oliveira throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Sthowp works to advance to full mount. Oliveira defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sthowp is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Oliveira can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Sthowp fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Sthowp postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Oliveira bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Sthowp and the fight is over!
