Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaspars Daugavins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbin Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has chosen Nervecell - Psychogenocide as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaspars Daugavins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robbin Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie gets a double leg takedown into Daugavins's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Gracie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Gracie has gone for a leg lock! Daugavins slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gracie's guard.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Daugavins defends it easily.

Gracie throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Daugavins escapes and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Daugavins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

Daugavins tries to advance to mount but Gracie denies him.
Gracie is looking to reverse the position.
Gracie sneaks back into half guard.

Daugavins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

Gracie tries to roll over but Daugavins keeps him under control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie is looking for a sweep. Daugavins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Daugavins wants to take a breather but Gracie is having none of it.

Gracie with the active half guard here but Daugavins passes nicely into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie prevents Daugavins from moving into mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Robbin Gracie will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Daugavins leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gracie was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Daugavins is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie scores with punches and elbows.
Daugavins wants to control his opponent's hands but Gracie gets his hands free.

Daugavins is covering up but some of the strikes from Gracie are getting through and doing damage.

Gracie misses with a head shot. Daugavins uses the momentum to regain guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie stands up over Daugavins, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robbin Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Daugavins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


A combination from Gracie does no damage.
Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Daugavins avoids it really well and circles away.
Gracie moves into range and connects with a jab.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gracie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Daugavins throws out the jab.

Gracie wants to take the fight to the mat but Daugavins manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Kaspars Daugavins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robbin Gracie.

Gracie is trying to drag Daugavins to the mat but Daugavins just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gracie lands a nice elbow.
Gracie tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Gracie pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Gracie 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Gracie fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Daugavins, pushing him back against the cage.

Gracie lands with a shot to the body.
Daugavins missing with a left hand there. Gracie was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Gracie loads up on a big right hand but Daugavins slips the punch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Daugavins is trying to break free.
Gracie lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Gracie has Daugavins pushed against the cage.
Daugavins wants to stall.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie is looking to take this one to the mat.
Robbin Gracie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Robbin Gracie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gracie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
