Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nakki Makkara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Bowie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raphael Bowie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nakki Makkara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raphael Bowie!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makkara pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bowie dodges the punch combination from Makkara.
Bowie changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Makkara wants to clinch.
Bowie on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Bowie lands a really nice looking cross but Makkara seems unphased.

Bowie has closed the distance and engaged Makkara in a clinch.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Makkara.
Bowie is looking for a takedown.

Bowie gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Makkara regains guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bowie seems to be working for a kimura but Makkara defends the submission attempt.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bowie tightens his grip and picks Makkara up, before dumping him to the ground. Makkara manages to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bowie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bowie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bowie drops back looking for a leg! Makkara is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Makkara manages to kick Bowie off! Bowie jumps back into Makkara's guard.

Makkara wants to stand up but Bowie is controlling him.
Bowie lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Makkara is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Makkara wants to take a breather but Bowie is having none of it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raphael Bowie dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A combination from Makkara does no damage.
Bowie cracks Makkara with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bowie drops down looking for an ankle pick but Makkara pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nakki Makkara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raphael Bowie.

Bowie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Makkara moves away.
Makkara moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Makkara tries to close the distance and clinch but Bowie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nakki Makkara is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bowie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Bowie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Makkara defends it well.
Makkara seems to have got his legs back now.

Bowie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Makkara sees it coming and defends easily.

Makkara pushes Bowie off looking to stand but Bowie dives back in and keeps control.

Bowie cracks Makkara with a big right hand but Makkara just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Makkara is looking to control Bowie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Makkara avoid being mounted?

Bowie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Makkara is looking for a sweep. Bowie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Makkara manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Raphael Bowie has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bowie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bowie is working Makkara over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Makkara bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bowie's guard.

Bowie is looking to sinch up a triangle. Makkara throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Bowie's body to avoid the submission. Bowie has instead reached around Makkara's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Bowie arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Raphael Bowie!
An out of breath Raphael Bowie thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
