Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Smalls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reggie Smalls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Sobral!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobral has a takedown stuffed.
Smalls throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sobral.
Sobral throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Smalls swings for the body but Sobral moves out of range.
Smalls throws a right hand that Sobral ducks under and follows up with a left that Sobral also avoids with ease.
Sobral rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smalls moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sobral is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Smalls's half guard.
Smalls might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smalls connects with a nice short shot to Sobral's temple.
Sobral has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smalls is working away from the top position though.
