PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Butch James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Butch James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leon Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kennedy leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Kennedy lands a two punch combo.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kennedy paws at him with a jab and circles away.
James throws a body kick that misses
and Kennedy counters with a right hand to the body.
No luck for James with that takedown attempt.

Kennedy clinches.

Kennedy pulls guard successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Butch James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Horrible takedown by Kennedy or perhaps it was just good defense by James which made him look bad.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kennedy crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from James - the referee stops the clock and Kennedy gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says James. Kennedy manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
