Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grey Zaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Kay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Grey Zaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Kay!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kay scores with a takedown into Zaro's guard.

Zaro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Zaro has his foot on Kay's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kay works his way back into a safe position though.
Kay scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Zaro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kay doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kay manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zaro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kay stays in close to Zaro's body and controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zaro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kay is controlling him.

Kay gets to his feet. Zaro looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kay takes the fight into the clinch.

Zaro pulls guard effortlessly.

Zaro had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kay is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Zaro Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kay's back instead.
Zaro is breathing heavily.
Kay tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Kay tries to hold on but Zaro postures up.
Kay is looking to improve his position but Zaro isn't that keen on the idea.

Zaro looking to secure an arm triangle but Kay defends it well.
Kay really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zaro is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kay has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kay!
Kay is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kay postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zaro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kay is trying to work for a kimura but Zaro is defending well.
Zaro is looking for a sweep. Kay is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kay drops an elbow to the side of Zaro's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Kay dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kay moves out of range of the strikes.
Zaro looks to land a combination but Kay avoids it well.
Zaro swinging wilding here.
Kay misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Zaro tries to clinch but Kay moves away

and Kay decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zaro's guard.
Kay wants to control from the top but Zaro keeps moving.
Kay is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Kay must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Zaro throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zaro uses the cage to get back to his feet.
A punch combination from Zaro misses.
Zaro throws a right and a left that Kay avoids nicely.
Zaro falls off balance throwing a combination

and Kay moves into the clinch.
Zaro drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kay pulls his leg out and moves away.

Kay scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Zaro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Zaro manages to get back to half guard.
Zaro tries to roll over but Kay keeps him under control.

Zaro makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zaro.

Zaro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kay is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kay trying to control but Zaro is working from the bottom.
Zaro is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kay is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Zaro controls Kay momentarily but Kay frees himself.
Marcus Kay has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Zaro is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kay is surviving well by controlling Zaro's body position as best he can.

That was a close second round but I would say that Grey Zaro will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Zaro manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Zaro throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kay.

Kay drives through and clinches with Zaro against the cage.
Kay works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Kay is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Zaro can't fight it off and eventually Kay manages to take the fight to the floor. Zaro looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
