Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rashard Evens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhang Zong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rashard Evens is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rashard Evens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zhang Zong!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evens pushes Zong up against the cage in a clinch.
Zong tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Evens smiles and moves away.
Zong ducks under a wild hook from Evens.
Evens moves out of range as Zong strikes.

Evens throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zong was covering up waiting for the punch and Evens finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Zong is on top in guard.
Evens keeping moving, preventing Zong from controlling successfully.

Evens looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Zong missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Zong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Evens works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Zong wants to stand but Evens is controlling his posture from full guard.
Zong's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Zong wants to control from the top but Evens keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Zhang Zong hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Evens misses with the combination.
Nice sprawl there from Evens as Zong shoots in.
Evens misses with a few strikes there.
Zong fails in his attempt to clinch.
Evens tries to close the distance and clinch but Zong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Evens shoots in looking for a takedown. Zong tries to sprawl out of it but Evens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Evens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zong as he avoids it easily.

Zong swats away the attempt to clinch by Evens.
Evens wants to clinch.
Evens closes the distance and clinches up with Zong, looking for a takedown. Evens pushes Zong against the cage but Zong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Evens is breathing heavily.
A head kick from Zong lands but Evens takes it in his stride.

Evens changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rashard Evens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evens stuffs the takedown attempt from Zong. Zong gets slowly back to his feet.
Zong tries to clinch but Evens is having none of it.

Evens closes the distance and pushes Zong back into the cage.
Zong jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Evens walks away with a smile on his face. Zong gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Evens takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zong looks to score with a jab to the body but Evens is just out of range.
Zong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Evens paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zong misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Evens slaps away a takedown attempt from Zong, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zhang Zong dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Evens rushes Zong and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Evens pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Evens gets through Zong's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Evens could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Evens misses with a knee to the head.
Evens looking to throw knees to the head but Zong is blocking nicely.
Evens blocks an uppercut.
Evens taking a breather.
A frustrated look appears on Evens's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Zong breaks from the clinch.
Evens displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zong.
Zong fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Evens avoids it really well and circles away.

Evens instigates a clinch.

Evens drags the fight down to the ground.
Zong trying to control the position from guard on top but Evens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Evens wants to stand and escape but Zong is having none of it.
Evens is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Zong thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Zong gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Evens avoids the body shot from Zong.
Evens throws a head kick but Zong moves out of range.
Evens misses with a low kick.
Evens fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Evens takes a kick to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zong connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Evens is rocked!
Zong lands a big right hook! Evens looks hurt but is still standing! Zong lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Evens falls down and Zong dives in with a huge hammer fist! Evens's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Zong runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
