Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Millard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gabriel Rua has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gabriel Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Millard!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Millard throws a leg kick but Rua sees it coming and moves out of range.
Millard feints and then cracks Rua's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rua down.
Rua is looking to clinch.
Rua tried to score with a low kick but Millard checks it.
Millard swats away the attempt to clinch by Rua.
Millard throws a jab but it's blocked by Rua.
Rua scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Millard throws a looping overhand right but Rua ducks down to avoid it.
Rua ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Millard moves away.
Rua swings for the body but Millard moves out of range.
Bruce Millard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rua looks to score with a jab to the body but Millard is just out of range.
Rua cracks Millard with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Rua moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Rua will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Millard avoids the head kick by Rua.
A head kick misses from Rua.
Millard lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rua throws a head kick but Millard moves out of range.

Millard misses with a wild body shot.
The fighters circling - Millard throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rua throws a leg kick that misses.
Millard swings for the body but Rua moves out of range.
Rua uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Millard.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Millard paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rua walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Millard thuds his right hand into Rua's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Millard moves out of range of the leg kick from Rua.
A bone on bone clash there as Millard blocks the leg kick.
Rua slaps away a takedown attempt from Millard, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Some bone on bone action there as Millard checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Good shot there by Rua.
Rua fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Millard manages to avoid it.

Millard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Millard throws a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Millard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Millard passes Rua's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Millard not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Millard is just content to waste time from the top position. Rua takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Millard throws a big right hand that misses.
Rua controls Millard momentarily but Millard frees himself.
Rua keeping moving, preventing Millard from controlling successfully.
Rua wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gabriel Rua just wasn't active enough.

Millard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rua.
Millard throws out a leg kick but Rua moves out of range and Millard only half commits.
Rua throws a quick inside leg kick.
Rua takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Millard scores with a takedown into Rua's guard.
Rua pulls Millard in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bruce Millard will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Millard lands a glancing blow to the side of Rua's head.
Rua throws a push kick but Millard slaps the foot to one side.
Rua misses with a body kick.
Millard fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A jab from Rua does it's job there.
Rua fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Millard is out of range.
Rua takes a swing at Millard's ribcage but misses.
Rua tests Millard's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Millard feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Rua's calf.

Millard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rua tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Millard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Rua is trying to control Millard's posture but Millard avoids it.

Millard grinds an elbow into Rua's temple.
Millard landing a few strikes.
Rua managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Millard.
Rua tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Millard throws a strike aimed at the side of Rua's head but Rua avoids it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Millard tries to score with some ground and pound. Rua controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Millard sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rua is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Millard working the strikes but Rua uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Millard thows a huge punch but Rua dodges it nicely.
Rua blocking the ground and pound attempt from Millard.
Rua has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Millard is working away from the top position though.

Rua is looking for a sweep. Millard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gabriel Rua wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Rua takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Millard throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Millard throws a sloppy head kick and Rua moves out of range easily.
Millard changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Millard looks to score with a jab to the body but Rua is just out of range.

Millard is fighting to break Rua's control of his arms but Rua is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rua takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Millard tries to land a leg kick but Rua saw it coming and moves away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rua moves out of range as Millard throws a body kick.

Millard fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rua looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Millard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Rua shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Millard shoots in for a takedown but Rua shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gabriel Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Millard.
Millard throws a low kick but Rua avoids it.

Rua instigates a clinch.
Rua looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Rua will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Millard up against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Millard digs a right hand underneath Rua's ribcage. Rua let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Rua tries to work over Millard's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Millard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A looping hook to the body misses from Millard. Rua does a little dance to reset his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bruce Millard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Millard winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
