Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ilia Kosarev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Curtis Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kosarev avoids it really well and circles away.

Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Kosarev shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kosarev postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kosarev with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson is trying to keep Kosarev in close.
Kosarev postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jackson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jackson has control of Kosarev's left arm, preventing Kosarev from doing any damage.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Kosarev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kosarev wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kosarev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Curtis Jackson wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kosarev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kosarev can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Kosarev keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Curtis Jackson wasn't active enough on the ground.
No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt.

Kosarev tries to sprawl but Jackson drives through with a takedown into half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kosarev pushes Jackson off and gets back to his feet.
Jackson leaves Kosarev with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kosarev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jackson defends it nicely.

Kosarev is trying to stand back up but Jackson is controlling him
Jackson wants to free his trapped foot but Kosarev is holding on for dear life with his legs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kosarev wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ilia Kosarev will probably get the nod.

Kosarev on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kosarev tries to get out of the position.

Jackson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kosarev defends it well.
Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jackson stalling away here and it's allowed Kosarev to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Jackson is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kosarev has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kosarev!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kosarev, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
