The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shirahoshi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jyllendael should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Shirahoshi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jyllendael swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like Jake Jyllendael has been cut.

Shirahoshi has gone for a leg lock! Jyllendael slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shirahoshi's guard.

Jyllendael seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jyllendael must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jyllendael drops back looking for a leg! Shirahoshi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shirahoshi manages to kick Jyllendael off! Jyllendael jumps back into Shirahoshi's guard.
Shirahoshi wants to get back to his feet but Jyllendael is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jyllendael avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shirahoshi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Shirahoshi slips a nice elbow through Jyllendael's hands, connecting with Jyllendael's forehead.
Shirahoshi uses his free foot to push down on Jyllendael's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jyllendael.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Jake Jyllendael's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
