Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mick Spanner!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Spanner misses.
Spanner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Silva counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Spanner shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Spanner swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.

and Silva counters with a nice uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Spanner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Spanner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Spanner shoots in for a double leg but Silva sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Renato Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mick Spanner.

Spanner tries to clinch up but Silva circles away and keeps his distance.

and Silva counters with a stiff right hand.

Spanner closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Silva's guard.
Silva wants to get back to his feet but Spanner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spanner on the ground.

Silva has momentary wrist control but Spanner slips an elbow through the middle.
Spanner postures up and lands a big shot to Silva's brow.

Spanner is in close to Silva's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Silva wants to stand up but Spanner is controlling him.
Spanner with a nice head shot there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spanner postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Spanner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Spanner content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silva is wriggling around but Spanner manages to pass to half guard.
Spanner is nestled in close to Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Spanner seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Silva is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Mick Spanner!
Mick Spanner very nearly forgot to thank Steel Penn's Laundry 93% amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
