The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vivero shoots in but Hoehne avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Vivero misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vivero fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoehne avoids it really well and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hoehne.

Hoehne closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vivero to the mat! Vivero manages to get full guard.
Vivero is breathing heavily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hoehne connects with a couple of short punches.
Hoehne in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Hoehne drops back looking for a leg! Vivero is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vivero manages to kick Hoehne off! Hoehne jumps back into Vivero's guard.
Hoehne controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hoehne postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hoehne has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hoehne is keen to just control but Vivero is a slippery customer.
Hoehne lands strikes from half guard.
Hoehne is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Hoehne maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Vivero could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Hoehne has cracked it and Vivero is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Hoehne!

Matthew Hoehne opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
