The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva dives in and grabs Thompson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thompson pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
A solid leg kick lands there for Thompson.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Thompson sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Thompson connects with an inside leg kick.
Thompson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Silva fails to land the takedown.
Juan Thompson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bequembauer Silva.
Thompson tries a head kick but it misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by Thompson.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A head kick from Thompson lands but Silva takes it in his stride.

It looks like Bequembauer Silva has been cut.
Silva takes a kick to the side of the head.
Thompson keeps Silva at a distance using the push kick.
Silva looks winded!
Thompson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Thompson looks to land a right hand but Silva moved out of range.
Silva is trying desperately to land a takedown but Thompson is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Silva.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Thompson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Thompson throws a nice head kick!
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Thompson sprawls well. Thompson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
A chopping leg kick lands by Thompson.

Thompson circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Silva drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Thompson follows Silva to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
