The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Mir tries to score a power double leg takedown but Karatakayan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mir somewhat.
Mir takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Karatakayan motions for Mir to come forward. Karatakayan throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Karatakayan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mir for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Argin Karatakayan just wasn't active enough.

Karatakayan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Karatakayan moves into range and clinches up with Mir.
Karatakayan misses with an elbow over the top.
Karatakayan lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Karatakayan scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mir drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Argin Karatakayan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Karatakayan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mir tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Karatakayan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mir throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Karatakayan was covering up waiting for the punch and Mir finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mir thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mir wants to pass the guard but Karatakayan is keeping the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mir drops back looking for a leg! Karatakayan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Karatakayan manages to kick Mir off! Mir jumps back into Karatakayan's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Karatakayan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mir manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Karatakayan is posturing up here but Mir has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Karatakayan tries to roll out but it's too tight and Karatakayan has to tap! Slick submission there by Mir!
